Orange County On Track’s Youth Leadership Programs give
a multi-cultural group of dedicated teenagers an opportunity
to address critical issues that face our society today.  The
program provides these teens with public speaking skills, leadership development and advocacy skills so they can
speak out with conviction and credibility.  They are offered opportunities to participate in community service activities
such as mentoring, health fairs, conferences, merchant education, and community beautification.  In order to train
and guide teen volunteers to have a strong impact when speaking out to their peers as well as to younger children
who are eager to emulate them and follow in their footsteps
the following components are provided:
  1. Current facts and statistics on the benefits of volunteerism and the harms of drugs and gangs;
  2. Training on the basics of how to work as mentors in a group setting;
  3. Cultural competency training and coaching in order to enhance awareness of other cultures;
  4. Coaching on conducting workshops and speaking out against drugs and gangs;
  5. Training in public speaking skills and techniques;
  6. Coaching on conducting community advocacy and policy work related to tobacco-free communities;
  7. Participation in conferences and seminars to relate the benefits of volunteering;
